Introduction to Dental Microscopy:
A Two-Day Hands-On Workshop (0-601)
Instructors: L Nattkemper, DDS, Lynn Jones, DDS, Jean Wu, DDS
This is a stimulating
two-day course combining the most current technologic methods
and the fundamentals of the clinical microscopy for dentistry.
Participants will focus on clinically relevant information
that is needed to provide successful advanced procedures for
esthetic, restorative, endodontic or periodontic practices,
and use that information as they perform their dentistry with
the aid of the clinical microscope.
As the participant concentrates on the requirements for incorporating
the clinical microscope into their daily dental practice with
tooth preparations, access for endodontic treatments, and
instrumentation for periodontal procedures, both on the bench
and in the mouth of a simulated "patient", their
skills advance to a new level. When you leave this course
you will be able to:
-
Par focal a clinical microscope quickly and correctly.
-
Move freely between most or all magnification levels
and know which levels of magnification are best for each
situation.
-
Effectively and efficiently move throughout the maxillary
arch using direct and reflected vision.
-
Effectively and efficiently move throughout the mandibular
arch using direct and reflected vision. The achievement
of this goal may be more challenging for some participants,
but will come with time and experience.
-
Comfortably do full crown preparations in all four quadrants
of the mouth at 8x to 12x magnification.
-
Learn ideal ergo-metric procedures with microsurgical
instrumentation.
-
Master the ergonomics of working under magnification.
This workshop combines lecture and hands-on formats along
with the small class size to provide individual, needs-specific
mentoring from instructors to participants.
Students are encouraged to bring a challenging
or interesting case for review with the instructors and possible
sharing with the entire class.
The tuition for this two-day course is $2,790.
